Investment These Investment Products and Services are available only to South Australian public sector agencies, within the confines of the Government Financing Authority Act 1982, and applicable approvals from the Treasurer of South Australia . SAFA can accept deposits and offer investment products to clients within the South Australian public sector under the Government Financing Authority Act 1982 and with the approval of the Treasurer of South Australia. Client Services staff are available to provide advice regarding these products, in order to fulfil clients' individual investment requirements.
The At Call Deposit facility is a liquid cash account with funds available same day and provides a competitive return for short term cash surpluses. At Call Deposits are capital guaranteed with interest based on SAFA's overnight deposit rate and applied to the daily balance of the funds on deposit. Interest is accrued daily and payable on the first day of the following month.
Terms deposits are suitable for agencies who wish to nominate the term of their investment with the rate for the entire period known up front. Interest is calculated at the quoted fixed rate for the term of the deposit and is typically paid at maturity, although more frequent payments can be made if required. The early termination of a term deposit will be calculated at prevailing market rates and may result in a break cost or gain to the client.
The Cash Management Fund (CMF) is a pooled investment portfolio essentially comprising cash and shorter term money market securities, with the objective of achieving returns over the medium term exceeding those available from "at call" investments. Investments in the CMF are capital guaranteed with the aim of maximising the return on clients core cash balances. The portfolio return is calculated daily, with a daily earnings rate applied to the daily account balance for each client. Interest is accrued daily and distributed monthly on the first working day of the following month. There are minimum deposit and withdrawal requirements, with a notice period also required for withdrawals.
The Cash Enhanced Fund (CEF) is a pooled investment portfolio comprising term investments with the objective of achieving higher returns than conventional cash management investment funds through active portfolio management and selective investment in term securities. Investments in the CEF are valued on a market value basis and are not capital guaranteed. The CEF is therefore suited to medium to longer-term investing, where clients can tolerate higher return volatility.
